ABOUT TAR TAR GOODS
Tar Tar is an Istanbul-based jewelry and accessories label founded by Pınar Gerçek in 2011. Drawing inspiration from contemporary art, traditional crafts and the rich material culture of Istanbul, Tar Tar brings together joyful creativity with tactile curiosity.
At its heart, Tar Tar is driven by a lifelong passion for making things by hand—a joy rooted in Pınar’s childhood and carried into her adult creative practice. With an eye for the unconventional, she combines textiles with different materials and techniques into pieces that feel both sculptural and intimate. Every item is handcrafted in small quantities, celebrating individuality, color and playful experimentation.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Pınar Gerçek (PhD) is trained as a theatre designer which gave her a multidisciplinary foundation, spanning costume, spatial design, puppetry and performance. This background continues to inform her approach to design: expressive, layered and performative in spirit. She has worked in academia full time and part time since 2006 and founded Tar Tar Goods as a way to bring her love of craft and materiality into a personal design language.
